house of THE HUNTED
My biggest concern is that thoughtless materialism and desire for worldly goods have robbed people of their priceless humanity, turning them into mere robots bent on achieving wealth. People have become insensitive to all but their desires, and as a result, the world has become a place where only the superiors survive. To try and break out of this cycle, I invite people to turn their thoughts and insights into finding emotions which have been hidden away or which have been subjugated by greed and materialism.
To help with this, I call upon human principles such as conscience, the desire for goodness and compassion. To me, these principles ultimately have the ability to triumph over selfish judgments triggered by materialism. They ultimately restore us to a state where we are free from selfish desires and restore our compassion towards the inferiors of society. Compassion is what makes us human. Compassion is what I believe will triumph over materialism.
My artwork is based on my emotions- but rather that being tumultuous, it is static and quiet. It presents reality as I see it, instead of displaying the emotions that characterised artistic movements in the past. The space which I call a house where my paintings are displayed is a mirror, or one canvas with different elements. I don't know what individuals will see when they are invited to look into my mirror, but I think the mirror is important.
